WELSH electronauts Outside Broadcast will be highlighting International Human Rights Day on December 10th with the release of their new single SANCTUARY.
The song – a progressive house style follow-up to their summer dance collaboration with Lunar Glass The Lights – reflects many of the pressing issues of today…calls for climate justice, the Black Lives Matter campaign and ongoing worldwide economic and social inequalities highlighted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
It also celebrates Wales' national pledge and commitment to lead the way as a nation of sanctuary, particularly for refugees and asylum seekers whose human rights are severely compromised in their home countries and need places of refuge, welcome and support. SANCTUARY is the first release from Outside Broadcast’s new album SOCIALiSM, anticipated for self-release next January, described as ‘eclectic electronica with strong political messaging’ including tracks such as REVOLUTiON, MACHiNE and REGiME CHANGE.
The single is their second successive release to involve talented up-and-coming producer and musician Ben Dabson, who has previously worked with Welsh artists Lunar Glass, Clinigol and is a member of both Derw and Cardiff-based Codewalkers as well as creating his own solo music under the Radical Academy banner.
“Working with Ben has been an uplifting experience,” say Outside Broadcast. “Our music can be quite dark and is meant to be a timely warning to humanity about the impacts of inequality, intolerance and a lack of care for each other and for the planet.
“We’ve seen how these inequalities are playing out during the pandemic and through climate change, affecting our poorest and most vulnerable communities worst. While much of SOCIALiSM will be true to form for us, SANCTUARY provides the album with a truly hopeful conclusion.”
